About
The desserts you love, repaired — not replaced
RecipeMend exists because diabetes-friendly dessert content online tends to fall into two camps: fear-mongering ("sugar is poison") or vague reassurance ("just use a natural sweetener!") with no actual numbers. Neither helps someone who wants to keep making the birthday cake they've always made.
Database v0.0.1 (draft) — updated 2026-07-21
In the repair

Every number should trace to a source.
What we believe, and what we're not
What we believe
Every number should trace to a source. Where the science is genuinely unsettled or a value is secondary-sourced, we say so — explicitly, with a confidence level — rather than presenting a guess as settled fact. Where an ingredient isn't in our database yet, we say that too, instead of silently pretending it's safe.
What we're not
Not a diagnosis tool, not a replacement for a clinician or registered dietitian, and not a claim that any sweetener is risk-free. RecipeMend is a research and recipe-repair aid — the kind of tool we wanted before making dessert for a diabetic family member and finding that every "diabetic-friendly" recipe site online just... assumed.
Where the database stands today
Database v0.1 is a draft, adversarially reviewed once already (2026-07-21, 11 corrections applied). It will grow.
